Pleasing Miss Pink

Juliet's request in the move was a pink room so here goes! The real challenge was painting the furniture to match to Pottery Barn Furniture she liked so much. Many weeks and manpower (womanpower that is) went into painting the bed and dresser (not pictured)

Is it cheating to paint grout?

So after the move the fundage is running super low. Yet the tile on this fire place is not tolerable. As a temporary fix I have painted the grout white, yet I feel like I'm cheating.

Moving

So we are off on our adventure. Leaving home for the first time. Not without running over our new neighbor's mailbox, we got moved in. I am still completely disorganized and without a couch. Had to abandon it and give it to Mitch and E when we left down. It wouldn't fit in the moving truck!
Oh well, at least all the boxes are emptied. What to do with all the piles now...???

San Francisco Treat

Low and behold - We went on vacation! We flew into SF and had a fantastic time. I've always wondered what there is to do in SF. Ends up, quite a lot! We stayed at a hotel at the Fisherman's Warf and walked all around, rode the trolleys and went to a Giants game.

On our way to Portland for Mitch's wedding we went through the beautiful Napa Valley and the awe inspiring Redwood Forest. It was great to get away and have fun as a family for a little while : ).

Future Sister-in-Law

My baby brother Mitch is marring the lovely Elizabeth in a little over one week. We are all so excited for them. Chad is using his vacation and we are going to make a family vacation out it all which will be so nice because he's been gone working so hard this whole year.

My Bad Attitude

For my own life, I consider myself an optimist. I hope for the best, prepare for the worst and always look for the silver lining.

All things considered, I've noticed that I am a complete cynic when it comes to other people. And I have found that I like to surround myself with people who are cynical as well. For some reason cynical people make me feel good, happy and all warm and fuzzy inside.

People who see the positive in everyone, positively bore me.

By cynical I specifically am referring to being skeptical of the motives of others.

Don't get me wrong. I have no tolerance for people who have the audacity to put down or talk negatively about any of my friends. I will tell them where to go.

I guess, if I am chatting with a friend and they tell me how happy their life is and how wonderful their spouse is, I'm thinking, 'They are lying through their teeth. Their marriage must be a disaster area.'

Now if you tell me that his ex-girlfriend still calls him on his birthday and you want to punch her face through the phone and he never takes out the trash, yet that is the only thing you ask of him, I'm thinking, 'This marriage is going to make it. What a great couple.'

What's wrong with me?

Up to No Good, but Doing it Together

Cougar had no school yesterday and he and Juliet were getting along much better than usual. They drug their blankets and toys into the bathroom (yuck!) and built a fort. The next thing I know, the sink is full of water and together they are bathing their favorite stuffed animals.
How can I get mad at that? They were up to no good, but they were doing it together. I just closed the door and kept on going and decided I was going to be grateful that they were bonding as brother and sister, darn the wet stuffed animals.
