"Madame Stacie" my sewing students ask, "why can't you just thread my machine for me every time?" Well, my dears, the first thing you will need to do to stand on your own to feet while sewing is to become a master of threading your own machine. I recently had a young man take lessons from me. He had his own machine for several months. He dreamed of becoming a famous clothing designer, but every time he tried to sew something it all went wrong. I had him bring his own machine over and I worked with it and found that it was really a wonderful machine! I spent a lot of time teaching him to thread his machine over and over again properly. We spent a week or so on a small project that turned out quite lovely. Once he got familiar with his machine and became confident in his threading ability, he was off to the races. Within a couple of weeks of learning to thread his machine he was getting commisson work from rap artists. Take the time to get machine threading down to muscle memory, and you too will be off to the races.
